Anti-Women Labeling in Movies

I still don't get the real motive behind the whole episode of anti-women labeling in Malayalam film industry. Firstly to start with, when Prithviraj made a statement, rather a promise, that he will not be a part of anti-women movie/dialogue/scene whole world applauded for him. It's his choice, let it be. Surprised with his statement as I consider him as one of the finest craftsmen in Malayalam movie, what made him to issue a statement like that? In my personal view, art shouldn't get mixed up with any of these morale issues that happen in our state or country. It's as simple as I get provoked by a murder scene from a movie, so I decided to kill someone. We always discuss this topic whenever a rape/molestation/murder happen in the state. The same minds who support PK, Sexy Durga, Lipstick Behind Burka must also agree with these so called 'anti-women' dialogues in movies. I read an article which lists down those anti-women dialogues. Narasimham, Spirit, Kasaba etc are in the list. This note is based on these movies, If they had not protested against these then, why now ? The society must learn to respect women. It should start from the family. Every parent must teach their children value of respect not on gender basis but on humanity base. A proper education system ( it shouldn't be always school, it can be from parents, friends and elders) can enrich each mindset with good values of life. Blaming movies is a way of escapism. Let's learn to respect not only women but the entire humanity. Let's learn to respect not through movies, but through lessons/examples in life !

Kerala Election : Another Hope?

Enough talking about developments, kudos to all the previous governments for showcasing Kerala as one of the highly developing states in India with elevated HDI rates. Today being the decision making day for new government in Kerala, below are the key focus areas in my eyes for any government to rule next.
We claim that we are number one in literacy rate... having said, we are ranked one in unemployment rates as well. Educated youngsters work in other states like Bangalore, Chennai & Mumbai. One of the reasons for this issue could lead us to the next issue which is lack of manufacturing and production industries. Thanks to extreme leftist thoughts, I say ‘extreme’. I’m also not denying the fact that high literacy rate has an adverse effect on us with lack of people to do social jobs like carepenting, plumbing etc... which is helping migrant’s state workers to boost their economy. Also, there is a hug dependency on foreign remittance especially from the Malabar people working in Gulf and central Kerala people working in Europe, USA. Are we utilizing these remittance by providing scope for new initiatives and business? No..
Also, kerala now being the high consumer state despite having resources to generate its own products, it will soon face drastic issues in health index which is one of the key contributing factors for high HDI. The reason is, we import even rice and coconut from other states (forget about veggies) which are artificially flavoured prone to serious health concerns. If this is going to continue, the factors which we are proud of in HDI like life expectancy and health care will face serious setbacks.
Last but not least, old stories related to roads, infrastructure and public safety.
Five major development areas,
1. Lower the consumption rate.
2. Fix unemployment issues
3. Improve manufacturing and production.
4. Fulfil the basic needs for lower caste community (hate using the word ‘lower’ though)
5. Public upliftment (women safety, infrastructure, roads etc...)

JNU - from a Neutral Political Eyes

For the past few days many people are furious about the JNU incident, political situation in India and controversies around it. All these concerns started as part of a cultural event organised by students from Democratic Students Union (DSU) against the judicial killing of Afsal Guru and Maqbool Bhat.  Anti India slogans were raised at the event and there is no doubt that this has happened at JNU. After this incident, ABVP members started their protest, demanding the expulsion of student organisers. Media took this issue with much glorification triggering various discussions, debates and dull-witted political fights. Things turned out to be a nasty game when Delhi police arrested JNU students union president Kanhaiya Kumar on charges of sedition and criminal conspiracy. The arrest soon created the major political squabble, leaders from the opposition party and others extended their support for students in JNU, against the arrest and police crack down. This provoked the government of India to issue the statement regarding the need for disciplined universities and claimed no one would be spared for creating anti-national activities in India. Fights at the patiala court and related controversies added much flavour to these incidents.

This is the synopsis of my understanding about JNU incident from various articles and news reports.

Now, trying to sum up all these -

Anti National slogans were raised, pictures of Afsal Guru and Maqbool Bhat were displayed at JNU. DSU claims it was executed by ABVP and vice versa. No matter which party did it, lets find out the real culprits a.k.a ‘Anti-Nationals’.

Lets also agree to the fact that fake video was fabricated by Zee news and Kanhaiya Kumar was arrested with a political motivation. Channel to be sued for unethical journalism and Kanhaiya Kumar must be freed if he has not done any crime.

As a believer of neutral politics, I’m looking for only one answer.

Ultimately all these wreckages have occurred as part of an event. What’s the motive behind the protest against the judicial killing of Afsal Guru & Maqbool Bhat which was organised by an ultra leftist party, DSU ? If the answer is, we are fighting for the ‘human right’, I don't want to listen further, rather I will reach to the conclusion why they are called Ultra leftists !

“Sathyamev Jayathe“ - A Recap !

“Sathyamev Jayathe“ is the first small screen venture of legend and one of my favourites in Indian cinema, Amir Khan. I have been reading the news of this serial since long but did not had much interest to know more in detail. May be I expected the kind of body language of this serial well in advance which went wrong eventually. Yesterday while I was talking to Rachu, she pointed that the serial went to air first time. Since I did not have many things to do, I opened my laptop and browsed for youtube link of “Sathyamev Jayathe”. It was the official link of the serial and I started watching it. From the initial five minutes I understood the intention behind this venture. It’s nothing but highlighting the social issues faced by India which made me more interested to view. The topic was about infanticide. In other ways, intentional killing of infants. But this was not new information for me. I have heard a lot about this issue in my past and I treated this to be a general issue normal as many others in Indian society. But I changed my thoughts, my views towards social cause started fluctuating. The stories told by three mothers in that episode brought the sense of real thoughts in my mind. Has this happened in India? This is what we call infanticide? I could never believe the words explained by great mothers in that episode. Why? Why are we like this? Are we not responsible for killing a female infant before the birth? Yes we are… What did that infant do to us? Getting life in this beautiful world is one of most precious gifts from God. We have been granted with that gift, what right we do have to take away that gift from someone? Moreover, on top of that homicide, blame is for mother. Why again? Hardly people knew the fact the men are responsible for birth of a child. Women’s responsibility is to carry and bring that child to outside world. But we are blaming women for female infants. Sometimes you do have to think that everyone is responsible for this issue. Firstly because of the ignorance we don’t pay much attention to understand social issues of our country. Being an Indian citizen, we have to.

Mr Amir Khan, you have almost everything in your life. Huge fan following. Great movies you made which were considered as the nominations for Oscar. Fame, money, life…. I don’t see any benefits for you by crafting a program like this for gaining something beneficiary personal. You always think differently and you are trying to enact those thoughts to public. So far, I understood this much. Hats off to you, the great man!

Mr Palash Sen, your Euphoria must be a great musical icon. But before you make childish and foolish comments like copyrights issues of just two words of choruses, just think that you are showing your heights of idiotic stupidity. Rather than accepting the real face of social issue (infanticide) and the intention behind the program, weeping for useless copyright issue is not fair. Moreover there is no truth in your arguments. Sathyamev Jayathe chorus version is somewhere near to Euphoria's version. A man who has crafted this program does not have to steal your tone to prove his capability.
